This qualification indicates an individual can undertake the role of Outdoor First Aider in the more rural and remote areas of the British Isles where professional emergency assistance may be a couple of hours or more.
This 16 hour course is designed to provide First Aid training for those working in an outdoor environment where backup may be a while. If you work closer to civilisation, do look at our shorter 8 hour Outdoor Emergency First Aid course.
Day 1 of this course is also the Outdoor Emergency First Aid (8 hour) course and these two courses may be combined should there be a mix of staff needing 1 day or 2 days. The total number of learners cannot exceed 12 per course, however.
Forest School Practitioners
If you are looking for an Outdoor course as part of your Forest School qualification we also run a specific Forest School First Aid course that is more tailored to that environment.
See here for further details
The 4 Minutes Outdoor courses are targeted at people working in the UK. If you need the First Aid skills for working abroad, or even some of the more remote areas of the UK, we recommend that you look elsewhere for a course focusing on Remote First Aid. This course is probably not for you.
This course is aligned with the Institute of Outdoor Learning’s Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid at Band 3
This 16 hour Outdoor course syllabus complies with the syllabus as laid down by a range of Governing Bodies for Outdoor Sports such as:
RYA (non-commercial)
Mountain Leader
Paddle UK
Emergency First Aid at Work qualification – optional
For those attendees working in an environment where there is a need to hold a Workplace First Aid Certificate, this can be incorporated into the syllabus and all attendees that need it will receive a Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate as well. There is an additional fee of £20 per student for this optional qualification.
This needs to be requested at time of booking to allow the qualification to be registered
There are no prerequisite entry requirements for this qualification apart from a minimum of Level 2 written and spoken English.
Students that pass will be awarded with a 4 Minutes 16 hour Outdoor First Aid Certificate valid for 3 years. Certificates are provided in PDF form to allow easy sharing and may be printed out for framing.
The price assumes that the course is run on consecutive days. There may be additional costs if the days are not consecutive.
